Yr 11 Volunteering
Visiting youth centres is an excellent way to foster community connections and support the development of young individuals. The year 11s and a year 12 student visited two youth centres this semester (Rockingham Youth Centre and Billy Dower Youth Centre) that offer a variety of programs and services that cater to the diverse needs of youth, including recreational activities, educational workshops, mental health support, and community events.
By engaging with these centres, they can build social skills, find mentorship, and access resources that contribute to their personal growth and well-being as they are approaching post school life. To better understand the unique features and commonalities among different youth centres, a Venn diagram was used in class as an effective tool in decision making.
