Microenterprise education makes learning real and exciting for individuals or small groups of students to investigate their interests while establishing a mini business. Students follow the enterprise cycle of developing a business name, logo and marketing their business to the school and ultimately, wider community. Students run their business and engage in regular reflection regarding successes, skill development, problem solving, and developing next steps. Through the microenterprise process, students also develop English, Mathematics and Career Education skills and knowledge. This term I have received business plans from students in relation to car washing and a cafe. I will now meet with students to discuss next steps in relation to their ideas.Other students are developing plans around a range of interests including candle making, baking and performance and I look forward to receiving their proposals. We are looking for micro enterprise success stories to share with our students - they of course do not have to be linked to the interests listed above. If you are interested, please contact us through Facebook Messenger or via email warnbro.chsesc@education.wa.edu.au.
