Senior School Pathway Planning Term 2 Week 4
Our year 11 & 12’s have been really busy working through Business Plan Procedures on how to set up a microenterprise. Once the student has all the relevant information the business proposal will be required to be approved before the microenterprise is ready to start.
At the moment we have Zen and Jackson hoping to have a Car Washing business, Isabella, Faith and Caitlin making and selling Barista Coffee.
Rebecca is completing a School Based Traineeship where she is being paid to complete a Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics. She has completed workplace hours at Priceline which is covering the beauty element and interest. In the Pathway Planning week Rebecca had the opportunity to attend Hairhouse in Baldivis, she got to see what happens in a hair salon. Rebecca enjoyed the stocking of shelves with many hair products but has realised her preference is in beauty rather than hairdressing. This is what this program is all about, giving the students the opportunity to experience firsthand what happens in these businesses for them to work out which is their preferred industry.
Zach attended Woolworths Warnbro in our Pathway Planning week and attends every Friday to continue working on his skills with the goal to gain employment. Zach always shows great enthusiasm and is having experience in all departments throughout Woolworths. Zach has always had a dream to get involved in media production, we connected him with IPL Radio (on-line platform) where he and two other students from local schools are on the show every Thursday from 9am to 12pm.
Through their interests some of our students had the opportunity to volunteer at Horsepower and St Brendan’s Homeless Respite. It’s a fabulous way to see our students shine and be involved in making a positive difference in our local community.
Krystal had a busy week volunteering at St Brendan’s Homeless Respite and Horsepower, she really enjoyed Horsepower and now will be attending every Tuesday independently. Well done Krystal we are very proud of you!!
Bailey is still working out which volunteering opportunity he liked best, his work ethics at both places was exceptional. Keep up the great work Bailey!
Pippa is another student who is still making up her mind if she preferred Horsepower or St Brendan’s Homeless Respite. When Pippa was involved in The Big Plan in year 9, she expressed that it would be a dream if she got the chance work take tickets at a sporting complex. Pippa is now connected with Rockingham Flames Basketball where she takes tickets and performs many other tasks helping the volunteers on home game nights. Dreams can come true!!
Lauren is now attending Salvos in Port Kennedy every Friday to support her goal to sign up with Salvos Volunteering for their Baldivis store. Lauren has had many hours at Red Dot and has gained some great retail skills that she has transferred to Salvos. Fabulous work Lauren!
