St Brendan's WPS 2
Over the past 3 Fridays our Workplace Skills 2 Year 10 class have volunteered at St Brendan's Homeless Respite in Safety Bay from 9am to 1.30pm.The students undertook a variety of tasks to assist in the preparation and serving of a two-course cooked meal along with packaging bread and fruit, laying out clothing and personal hygiene items as well as drinks and snack type foods that guests could take away with them. The students set up for the day, they served their community, and they cleaned up at the end... doing dishes, sweeping the floors and packing up.Our Workplace Skills 1 Year 10 class who volunteered their time at St Brendan's Homeless Respite for the prior three Fridays felt a great achievement from their attendance and as you can imagine, they shared stories of their experiences which certainly helped ease any nerves that Workplace Skills 2 students were feeling.Everyone followed instructions and really did their best in providing a valuable service to some of our homeless and low socio-economic community members. We value and appreciate this wonderful opportunity for our students to participate in providing such an important service to our community.Well done to all the students from both classrooms and class staff who were also involved!
