Yagan 9

In what has been a very busy Term 2 so far, a highlight for everyone in the class has been our cooking lessons! As a class, we used our knowledge of the voting system to democratically vote on what we choose to cook. In the end, we decided on vegemite scrolls. However, the students wanted to stretch their culinary taste palates, and we added Nutella and Pizza scrolls to our menu. The students researched the ingredients, the cooking method and the estimate of costs. With the preparation and costings sorted, the fun began - cooking time! The students prepared, chopped, rolled and sprinkled their scrolls before popping them in oven. Whilst waiting patiently for them to cook, the students cleaned the kitchen (whilst also trying to sneak a spoonful or two of Nutella!) and discussed what they think they did well, and what they could improve for next time. Then the moment we had all been waiting for, the taste test! Yum! We cooked so many, we were able to invite our Year 9 friends next door to join us for a yummy treat. After every last morsel was gone, we again used our knowledge of voting to decide which scroll was the best - in an almost unanimous decision, the pizza scroll was declared the winner!

Well done Yagan 9!
