Coombs Year 8

Coombs 8 is on a mission — we’re focused, driven, and ready to achieve our goals!

This term, we’ve been exploring landscapes through both scientific and Indigenous cultural perspectives. We’ve been learning about landforms, habitats, and ecosystems by creating fun and colourful dioramas for each type of landform.

To celebrate our learning, we’re working on a bush tucker project! We had the honour of welcoming Uncle Neville, an Indigenous Elder, who shared his amazing knowledge about native plants and how to care for the land using traditional sustainable techniques. While learning about plants and preparing our bush tucker, Uncle Neville also told us some wonderful stories and taught us how to do rock painting — it was such a special experience!

In Maths, we’ve been just as busy! We’ve explored place value, addition, and coordinates, and even used these skills to help design the landscape for our garden. We also calculated the perimeter and area for our bush tucker garden and came up with an exciting design for our future garden. Who knew Maths could be so creative and fun?

There are still a few weeks to go, and we can’t wait to share more of our adventures. Stay tuned — our friends from Farmer 8 will be revealing the second part of our exciting project very soon!
